Elin Hilderbrand is a best selling author of “beach reads” that are typically set on the east
coast. The Tuesday Afternoon Book club choose “Swan Song”, a novel in the Nantucket
series, for their “summer read”.
The book is set on the United States east coast. Nantucket is a close knit small tourist town.
The year round residents are always interested when someone new comes to town.
Longtime police chief Ed Kapenash is about to retire and hoping for a quiet summer. Well
known resident “Blond Sharon” is struggling through a divorce. But when a twenty-two-
million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Bull and Leslee Richardson, Ed,
Sharon, and everyone else in the community are swept up in high drama.
How did the Richardsons make their money? What is their history? Why did they buy the
expensive house? They throw lavish parties, flirt with the locals and taunt their wealth.
Everyone admires their large yacht, named the Hedonism. When their house burns to the
ground and a young employee is missing the drama continues! “Swan Song” is the last of the
“Nantucket Series” by Hilderbrand. She is currently working with her daughter on a novel to
be released this fall.
Book Club members enjoyed the book with a colorful set of characters. It is a great piece to
end Elin Hilderbrand’s series. Stop by the LeRoy Public Library to pick this book or to find
