LeRoy Evening Book Club reads “In the Lake of the Woods” by Tim O’Brien
John Wade and wife Kathy have retreated to a lake cabin in remote Minnesota. He had just lost a election for U.S. Senate and they needed time to plan their future. Within a couple days Kathy disappears. Through missing person’s and evidence reports and flashbacks we learn about John’s sorted past. His past is sorted,dark and a little crazy. “In the Lake of the Woods” by Tim O’Brien is a dark scary thriller that has many twists and turns. The novel was hard to read,reader just had to put it down,walk away and digest what you had just read. Discussion was about Vietnam,what the public did not know, what the troops saw and did,how treated on returning home. Would you recognize signs of mental disease or if you were being stalked?
