LeRoy Evening Book Club 7.15.2019
Members read two novels from their childhood, “The Hardy Boys” and “Nancy Drew Mysteries”. We all shared why we first read them and what impressed us. Some hadn’t read these novels but could remember “Boxcar Kids” and “Bobbsey Twins. ” In our “time” books weren’t as plentiful, usually received as gifts or the school library. The freedom the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew had, respect from parents and police, loyalty from their friends who were willing to help investigate, no wonder kids from eight to twelve liked to read these novels. As adults we can see that the simplicity of the writing kept the children’s attention so they could follow the clues and solve the mystery maybe before the last page. LeRoy Public Library has many books from your childhood, check one out with Rhonda or her library assistances and relieve your youth.
