“The Invisible Threa” by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski is a “True Story of an 11 – year – old panhandler, a busy sales executive, and an unlikely meeting with destiny.” When Laura was walking outside her Manhattan apartment a little boy stopped her and asked for spare change because he was hungry. First she walked away but something made her turn around and take him to lunch. The story takes on a life of its own; they stay friends for life but have many ups and downs.
Questioned asked was could we do this? Each member had their own thoughts, trust, how much was too much, and how would we feel if either one abandoned each other.
Maurice had two wants, lunch in a brown paper bag, this showed someone cared enough to make sure you had food and a large dining room table, a place for the whole family to sit around to eat and to talk to each other. Coming from a child who had nothing these wants are impressive.
We discussed the “The Great American Read” on PBS and will be reading several books from the list of 100.
Hope to see you at the LeRoy Public Library soon!!
