Family secrets are dangerous
“Searching for Sylvie Lee” by Jean Kwok is a mystery that changes the lives of a Chinese immigrant family. Sylvie, the eldest daughter of the Lee family returns to the Netherlands for one final visit with her dying grandmother and vanishes. We are then introduced to Amy, a younger, timid sister who tries to find Sylvie. She finds that language and traditions hinder the search. “Who are the parents?” “What happens to the family jewels?” Members had many late nights because they could not put the book down. Several discovered the mystery before finishing the story others almost waited till the last page. LeRoy Library has FREE BOOKS! On nice days the cart can be found on the sidewalk in front of the library or check the basement. Nice way to take books to Grandma’s or on vacation.
