Marie Bostwick’s “Second Sister” is about guilt, family, second chances and connections that bring women together. Lucy and Alice are sisters who live different lives due to a swimming accident. Alice almost died, survived as a different person, suffers from cognitive impairment. She is able to live in Nilson Bay with support from friends and townspeople, but misses her sister. Lucy left Nilson Bay as soon as she could and now is working on the Presidential campaign of Tom Ryland. Never has enough time for self, friends or family. Lucy receives a phone call that takes her home. Guilt and a request in Alice’s will change her immediate future and eventually the rest of her life. Returning home Lucy learns what she believed about people and events in the past are different. Guilt clouds all thinking.
