Feb. 11th was the All Town Read at the LeRoy Public Library. Discussion was about “All My Rage” by Sabaa Tahir. Story takes place in Lahore, Pakistan and Juniper, California, now and then. Sal and Noor are High school seniors and are experiencing many forms of social injustices, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect, poverty, bullying and grief. Sal and Noor’s rage come from these tragedies, but what pushes them over the edge is denial from people around them who did not see the signs of abuse and fear or refused to speak up. They were forced to raise themselves with little guidance. When everything spirals out of control and the authorities get involved family and friends are made aware and change their thinking.
We are reminded that words and actions do matter, and being kind to others because we don’t know what “rage” they carry in their hearts,
This novel is a young adult book and we all recommended every young reader should read this book.
