If you are looking for an exciting adventure mystery set in the western part of the United States, a book by C. J. Box would be a great choice.  The Tuesday Afternoon Book Club selected “Savage Run” the second book in his Joe Pickett series. (They previously read the 1^st book – “Open Season” in that series). The 20^th book in the Joe Pickett series was recently released.  

In “Savage Run”, Joe Pickett, a Wyoming game warden is called to investigate a massive explosion deep in the National Forest.  A colorful environmental activist appears to have been killed in the blast. The case is wrapped up quickly, explained as an environmental publicity stunt gone wrong, but Joe isn’t convinced.  He soon discovers clues that suggest a deadly conspiracy – one that will test his courage, his survival skills, and his determination to do the right thing” despite all costs.  

This is a book that keeps one reading with several twists and turns.  The Book Club recommends this book and others by C. J. Box. Fans of William Kent Krueger will enjoy Box’s books as well.  Stop by the LeRoy Public Library and check one out.
